Same for me at Dreadful Snake Radio. I am rated like #20 Music genre show on Podcast Alley but not able to get the iTunes listing rush . . . much. Here's what happened. I submitted the day 4.9 was announced and as far as I know I was only listed 2 weeks ago. OOPS - I disappeared 3 days ago. I hear there is trouble with the search function with multiple people apearing and disappearing as days go by. . . so I waited til I was listed and I am waiting til I reappear. I posted a thread about the disappear stuff on my site at http://dreadfulsnake.com

I'm glad I found this thread. We've had the EXACT SAME problem. Our music podcast is fully label-sanctioned, we've got over 3,000 subscribers, but forget about finding it in the iTMS.
I notice that Spin magazine had no trouble getting theirs listed, and on the front damn page.
Apple seems to be against independents getting any play, that's all I can think of. Anyone ever been able to find a phone number or an email for someone there?

I have the same problem with my podcast, Reaching for Lucidity. I am going on 2 months since submitting, watching shows that started at the same time as mine with around the same listener numbers get a tremendous surge while my show gets to grow by the good old word of mouth, (we are doing ok, just not as good as if we were listed)

I have contacted the customer service 4 times during the 2 months and every time I get the same automated response that says it takes two weeks and maybe I should re-submit. As you probably know, when you re-submit a "feed you get a feed already submitted" error. Oh the pain!

I wish you guys the best of luck, I myself have all but given up hope.

Funny thing is, Apple played little to no role in podcasting until the realease of 4.9. Now people think that the podcasts listed have the "Podcast Seal of Approval", which is bogus. What iTunes has done by excluding our casts is cause unfair competition as people don't know any better.

I'm going with your RIAA-related conspiracy theory here. This can't have anything to do with the Aussie base of TPN, since as Tony said, the other shows are listed (and anyway, the mixtape podcast is out of the US). Conspiracy or no, I can't imagine what iTunes would have against independent people podcasting underground tunes. I'm gonna have to start writing about this...

The thing is, Apple doesn't really make a profit from iTMS, instead, the make somethng like $150 in per iPod sold, so really, why should they care about placatinbg the big music companies... yet that seems to be exactly what they are doing. Then again, CBC Radio 3's podcast has loads of indie Canadian music, so maybe for legal reasons Apple will only accept music podcasts from well known corporations instead of the kid in his bedroom who claims to have permission to share music for so-and-so's band.

[...] Cameron asks, over at The Podcast Network, why iTunes aren’t listing the TPN music shows, including my music show, TPN Rock? It’s a simple question I have no answer for. The Edinburgh Fringe Podcast started on August 1st, was in ITMS world-wide in about 24 hours, and even hit the Top 100 (it peaked at #23) last weekend. Other TPN Shows are there, just not the music ones. [...]

Eric Rice told me yesterday that he has the same problem with KSSX - if he submits his talk shows into iTunes, they are up in 24 hours. If he submits his music shows - nothing.

I wonder if it's because yor based in Australia and we don't have a Aussie Itunes Store yet. having said that if you have other podcasts there it shouldn't matter.

Regarding the other TPN show Cam found out there is another TPN, The Teen Podcast Network, which is a network of teenagers who do podcasting. Cam has a link to them on his personal blog.

Very good question. Or perhaps it directly competes with their own offerings. That sucks because the listeners end up losing out.

I'm curious as to why I can't find the Gaming show on iTunes either, i was eager to listen to that... Also, it seems weird that if you type in "tpn" into the iTunes podcast search, you only get 4 hits, and one of them isn't from the Podcast Network.
