Just a little thing: be more consistent with the names of podcasts in iTunes. In my iTunes podcast list, I see the following:
ThePodcastNetwork :: The Movie Show
ThePodcastNetwork :: The Personal Productivity Show
…
…
TPN :: Geeks of Hazzard
TPN :: The Digital Photography Show
TPN :: The Gadget Show
TPN:: G’day World
I like to see of of my TPN podcasts showns together with consistent names and punctuation.

How about assigning topic areas to people of your choosing? I imagine that, right now, your ability to keep adding and nurturing podcasts is limited by your own time. If you assigned someone to manage, say, the Sports topic area, they could do the hard work of searching for, setting up, and nurturing podcasters in that area. It would be similar to the forum moderator concept, where the overall management task is delegated to trusted individuals.

How about you steal an idea from Last.fm? (http://last.fm/) Last.fm is a social networking site that recommends music tracks to you based on the music that you have been listening to, and the music that people like you have been listening to. Amazon does a similar thing with books. It would be cool if TPN could recommend podcasts to people in a similar way.

I’m on a roll now. How about displaying a mind map on your web site, showing how the TPN podcasts are related to each other by subject area. You could construct such a map with either Mind Manager or FreeMind. The leaves of the map could be hyperlinks to the home pages for the various podcasts.

I would develop a “how to” podcast (with video) to do each aspect of creating and publishing your podcast with TPN. My favorite “do it like this” example is at http://www.how-to-podcast-tutorial.com/17-audacity-tutorial.htm; however there are not enough video/audio examples of what a TPN podcasster would need/want.

Dave - thanks! The consistency in the titles is something I thought I had fixed. I’ll another go at those that are in the old long format. What kind of information would you like in the audio FAQ? For topic areas, we’re ahead of you. We recently appointed Ewan Spence as our first channel manager for Music, and plan on appointing more channel managers for the other genres. I like the recommendation idea too and we’ve been talking to a company that has some software which will help us do that. Just need more technical folks in order to install it. A mindmap! Great idea. I love Mind Manager. I’ll try to figure that one out as well! Thanks Dave!

I guess I will pull it together for you, Cameron, since I am (after all) an educator. I am developing a course for Southwestern Baptist University on how to blog and podcast (as if)… so I will have this ready for you by October. Hey Cam it is great to see this is getting some responses. I agree with the naming thing. Personally I prefer the TPN::[name] it makes it smaller so that it fits better in FeedDemon but that is obviously user specific.
The other thing is Dr. Jan suggested that something on a “how to” thing would be appreciated. As you and I know here on TPN there are many ways to actually produce a podcast - I reckon there would be as many ways to produce one as there is podcasts. That aside I would not mind including something in The Global Geek Podcast about how we do it for our show. Maybe we could all give a summary or something. Sure it would not be as indepth as might be required but it would point people in touch with some great resources that are available and methods.

How about being more consistant on presenting new episodes of the podcasts. In particular, Heretic was last produced on July 4, the last Late Night Blues & Jazz was on June 13, etc…

Larry, i agree, I’d love to see all of our hosts produce on a regular schedule and I encourage them to do that.
